Geography
History
Nanteuil on Aisne, formerly Nanteuil, had a fortress, before XVIe century, dominating the course of Aisne (certainly destroyed by the wars of the Sling, which also devastated the whole of the village). A more contemporary castle replaced it. Currently only the wing of the servants persists, following the many destruction of the two wars (Nanteuil was the witness of a battle during the second world war, which was at the origin of its total destruction). The current owners are it since the beginning of the XIXe century. An old family, Leseur de Beine, perhaps left her name to a road leading to the famous wood of Nanteuil… the street Beine. Very few prewar vestiges put aside the remaining part of the castle, probably XVIIe, and a dependence of a farm which mentions the date " 1821". The current church was rebuilt between the two wars; the old one had another plan and a different architecture. It sembait to date from XVIe century, to believe the documents of them has mentioning it. Traces of habitats of origin gallos-Romans are visible on the soil of the village (near to the archeological site of Acy-Lovesong).
