Nans-under-Holy-Anne
Nans-under-Holy-Anne is a common French, located in the department of the Doubs and the area Franche-Comté.
History
On the territory of the commune remains some vestiges of the castle of Montrichard.Built in XIIIe century to supervise the medieval way which went down from Montmahoux, it was completely ruined by the troops of Louis XI about 1479.

Located in one moved back Jurassic characteristic, Nans-under-Holy-Anne is also known for the importance of her network of Spéléologie, one of vastest of France. A brook, the Verneau crosses the village and is thrown in the Lison, him even an affluent of Loue. The sources of the two above mentioned rivers offer a great tourist attraction. Lastly, an edge-tool industry (Forging mill manufacturing of the cutting tools such of the forgeries) dating from the 19th century, in perfect operating condition is worth visiting.
Edge-tool industry
This firm-workshop, dating the XIX century is located at approximately 2 km of the source of Lison of which it uses water to actuate the waterwheels. The name of “edge-tool industry” is used to indicate the workshops intended for the manufacture of the cutting tools (false, bill hooks, etc.) for the needs for the farming community. Two series of waterwheels are used:- the two bellows, located outside the workshop, are driven by a system of rods pulled by a series of gears connected to paddle wheels. - Inside, the workshop of forging is fed in driving force by a machinery made up of two waterwheels, of about thirty tons. This machinery actuates a series of Martinet S, whose head of 250 kg strikes metal at the rate of 150 blows minute.
- Today, the visitors have the leisure to visit this workshop and to appreciate environment, very particular, of the work of the century spent, through the operation of the trip hammers and of a showroom which recalls the living conditions of the workmen blacksmiths and the manufacture of the tools edges.
