Nancy Grace Augusta Wake is a figure of allied Resistance during the Second world war.

Biography

Nancy Wake was born the August 30th 1912 with Wellington, in New Zealand, but its family settled in Australia when it was only two years old. She passed her childhood to Sydney and after its studies, she travelled in Europe where she worked as journalist. In 1939, it Maria with the French industrialist Henri Fiocca, which was killed during the war. Nancy Wake joined the French interior Résistance with the nickname of " Mouse blanche". After being stopped then released, it left the France for the Spain then the England where it became British special agent. The April 29th 1944, Nancy Wake was parachuted in Auvergne with for goal to help Resistance to prepare the armed rising which was to coincide with the unloadings in Normandy.

It accepted several medals after the war, becoming the woman most decorated with the Second world war (including one Légion of honor and three Military Cross). She worked then for the Intelligence service of the British Air Ministry before setting out again in Australia in the Années 1960, after being herself remariée with John Forward. An English telefilm of 1988 bears its name and tells its history.
