Namek

Namek is a Planet Manga Dragon Ball . It is the planet of origin of the Dragon Balls whose search is the principal screen of the history.

This planet has a particular environment since the vegetation is very rare there, following a climatic catastrophe which took place several centuries ago. But the few inhabitants nameks who survived cultivate trees in order to repopulate the flora of planet, and as they live only of water, their needs are very reduced.

Namek is traversed by Its Gokû, Its Gohan, Krilin, Bulma and Piccolo. They meet Freezer there as Végéta, all in search of the Dragon Balls, but at different ends.

Kami-sama, Piccolo and Dendé is originating in Namek.

The people namek

Nameks are rather old people considering that Rou Dai Kaiô Shin known as to have regulated the use of the Dragon Balls by just authorizing them in Nameks. However this kaïo spent much time locked up in a sword.

Mid- human S, semi Vegetable, the Namek people has a culture based on powerful a magic. They live in group in small Hutte S rounds. Asexual S, their diagram of operation is rather similar to that of the Fourmi S: a big boss and a life devoted to the wellbeing of the community. Very sensitive, they can absorb the negative waves of people what can strongly influence their personality; it is what pushes them to avoid mixing with the others and with living in community.

To communicate, they can use the Télépathie to send a message to someone else where which it is, not inevitably Namek besides since Piccolo makes use of it with Its Gohan.

Like the Tree S, Nameks live very a long time but are not immortal. Namek reproduces thus at the time of its death: it creates a large white egg which it spits and which hatches immediately. Namek thus transmits all its knowledge to its descent.

Their vital needs are very simple: they do not eat and need only a little Eau and they do not need to sleep and have just to rest to recover. Their bodies are looked after very quickly and part of the body can be reconstituted at once in the event of amputation. As long as them Cerveau is not directly reached, they can be entirely regenerated.

It also have a weak point discovered in film 04 " the Namek" threat; that Petit Heart did not even suspect. Indeed Its Gohan whistles a song to make dance its dragon and Petit heart does not support it, then when it whistles in front of Slug, this last collapses with Ground.

But the greatest capacity of Nameks remain their Dragon Balls. Key elements of the series, the sum to be able to them is devoted in these balls which depend entirely on the existence of their creator, the Big boss.

They also have faculty to increase their members, to see their whole bodies, as well as a capacity of fusion ner with another Namek.

Similarity compared to snails

In the manga, Akira Toriyama made of many references as for the fact that Nameks are in fact the crossing between the human one and the snail. The new edition of the manga in the course of publication does not fail besides to point these references via many notes.

First of all, all the names of Nameks refer to snails, except for Piccolo and Kami-sama which forgot their name of origin (as Piccolo in volume 30 mentions it ill omen ):

  • Cargot comes from the French word Escargot .
  • Dendé comes from Dendé-mushi (or Denden-mushi ) which is a type of snail.
  • Katatts is first half of the word Katatsumuri which means Escargot .
  • Muri is second half of the word Katatsumuri which means Escargot .
  • Nail comes from the English word Snail which means Escargot .
  • Tsuno indicates the horn of the gastropods.

The volume 22 ( the resistance of Nameks ) abounds in references and thus in various notes to point out them with the reader:

  • At the time of the meal on Namek, Dendé mentions that Nameks make push seedlings of ajissa. Ajissa comes from the Japanese word Ajisai which means Hortensia . It is that the snails are fond of delicacies plants with ground of heather like the Hortensia S; it is thus logical that Nameks cultivate some.

  • Bulma is also amazed to learn that Nameks are hermaphrodites, a specificity which also belongs to snails, as recalled by a footnote.

  • Lastly, it is easy to notice the similarity of the appearance of Nameks with those of snails, in particular the shape of their cranium which does not have a hair and especially antennas identical to that of snails.
