Name of the French cities under the Revolution

Under the French revolution several towns of France were débaptisées (approximately 1200 cities) one allotted a revolutionary name to them. This name change was wanted by the Revolution, because of the dechristianization one changed the names of the cities starting with “Saint” or “Holy”, but also with retaliatory measure (as the town of Lyon which became Commune-Freed). The name changes did not survive the Revolution or very little.
