Namco
Namco is a Japanese company of development of video games created in 1955 and active in the medium of the video game since 1974. It amalgamates with the Japanese company Bandai to form Namco Bandai Holdings Inc.
History
The Nakamura Manufacturing Ltd. is founded in 1955 with Tōkyō by Masaya Nakamura, its activity consists then of the installation of horse-gears (in particular with the effigy of the characters of Disney as from 1966).In 1972, the name Namco starts to be used, and in 1974 it buys the Japanese division of Atari.
The subsidiary companies Asia and the United States are created in 1977.
Galaxian (in 1979) is the first great success of Namco, it acts of a variation on the topic of Space Invaders . The exit of Pacman in 1980, the creature of Toru Iwatani, is an immediate triumph in the rooms of arcade and becomes an important figure, a symbol of the video game.
In May 2005, Namco announces its fusion with the company of manufacture of toys Bandai. This fusion gives birth in September 2005 to the company Namco Bandai Holdings Inc..
