Nahuas
The Nahuas form an Indian group Mexico.
Their number rose with 1.197.328 individuals with the Mexican census of 1990. They represent nearly 23% of the population of Mexico, that is to say the Indian group most important of the country.
Although generally, Nahuas use the name of Mexicano when they speak about themselves or their language, it is the word Nahua which is usually employed to designate these people and his culture. The term Nahuatl (which means “flowery language” or “harmonious”, “which returns a good sound”) applies to their language.
