Nahr Ibrahim

Nahr Ibrahim ( River of Abraham ) is a Rivière which takes its source with the Mount-Lebanon and which is thrown in the the Mediterranean with a few kilometers in the south of Jbeil (Byblos).

Mount-Lebanon is a calcareous assembly line furrowed by several river, of which Nahr Ibrahim.

According to the Greek Mythology and phenician, Adonis, God of the love and beauty, would have been killed by a wild boar sent by Arès, god of the war, or by Arès itself disguised out of wild boar, according to the versions, close to a river. According to the myth, the blood of Adonie ran in the water of the river, which would explain the fact that water is reddish at certain times. One then baptized the river River of Adonis . Actually, water took this color because of the sand which it involves.

Today, the site of the river is very visited.
