Nagpur

Nagpur or Nagpour (नागपुर) is a city of the center of the India in the Maharashtra. The city counts approximately 2.051.320 inhabitants.

The name of the town of Nagpur derives from the river “ nag ” which crosses the city. In Hindi nag ” means snake.

Localization: 21° 9 ′ 14" North, 79° 4 ′ 59" Is.

The city was founded towards 1740, by Bhakt Buland. The mayor of the city east Naresh Keshaorao Gawande.

Geography and climate

Nagpur is located has an altitude of approximately 300 m to the top of the sea level and has a surface of 220 km ². The city is close to the center of India. The climate of the city is generally dry. The rain season is short but the city receives on average 1242 mm of water per annum. The highest temperature recorded in the city is 48,6°C and lowest is of 4°C.
