Nagano

Nagano (長野市) is the capital of the Préfecture of Nagano, located close to the junction of the river Chikuma and the river Sai on the island Japan ease of Honshū.

In 2006 its Population was roughly of 381,592 inhabitants with a Population density of 893,34 habitants/km ². Its surface covers 737.86 km ².

The Winter Olympics of 1998 took place there. A Buddhist temple famous of the 7th century, Zenkoji, is located here. Nagano was originally a small village around this one.

The city was founded on April 1st 1897.
