Nador (in Tifinagh: , in Arab: rear RTL ناضور) is a harbor city amazighophone the North-East of the Morocco, in the area of the Rif and on the Mediterranean coast (area of Eastern) (lagoon of Bou Areg). Its economic activity is there primarily related to the fishing, with the trade of fruits, the metallurgy and against band with the Spanish enclave Melilla as well as the transit of the Morrocans resident abroad via the port of Beni Ansar. The most spoken language is the Rifain; Arabic, although being the official language of Morocco, remains in this area a relatively additional language.
History
Nador belonged to the Berber Civilization S (tamazight), phenicians, carthage, Roman then Islamic. There are two assumptions as for the originie name Nador : the name of Nador would be the diminutive of Has Nador, one of the Douar S located near the lagoon. Or the name of Nador would result from Arabic " nadar " who means the sight; indeed, Nador was a strategic point of observation with Spain.
The area was a land of welcome for several Moroccan kings. In fact the case in particular of the king Omar Ibn Idriss II and of the sovereign Almoravide Youssef Ibn Tachfin was installed with its troops on the mount of Temsamane in the Rif.
In 858, the city is plundered by the Viking Hasting.
Indeed, the sultan Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah had chosen the site of Nador like gathering point of his troops during the seat of Melilla. Mohammed Ibn Abderrahmane lengthily settled with the Kasbah of Selouane in the capacity as representative of her father in the area. It is also the case of the sultans Moulay Slimane, Moulay Ismail and Hassan Ier of Morocco which equipped the area with various fortifications. Nadoris, under the direction of Mohammed Ben Abdelkrim El Khattabi, take part in the Guerre of the Rif, of which the Bataille of Anoual, against the Spanish troops.
Economy
Nador is the second money market of Morocco (after Casablanca, which remains the lung economic and financial of Morocco) thanks to the transfers of the Morrocans abroad. The city profits from the proximity of the Enclave Spanish of Melilla, distant of 15 kilometers.
Nador was recently seen under the sunlight lamps of the international press at the time of the attempts at infiltration of sub-Saharan citizens in the enclave of Melilla. Those had elected like base camp the mount of Gourougou, located at a few kilometers of the city.
