Nabopolassar

Nabopolossar is the founder of the new empire of Babylon at the end of seventh century BC

Nabopolossar is governor of Babylon on behalf of the kings of Assyrie, when, benefitting from the disorders which followed the death of Assurbanipal, it is freed, in 626 av. J-C., of this heavy supervision. The following year, in 625 av. J-C., it delivers large a battles in the area of Nippur, against Assuretililâni, the son designated by Assurbanipal to succeed to him, which will be killed in the battle. By proclaiming king, Nabopolossar founds the dynasty chaldéenne of Babylon whose his/her son, Nabuchodonosor II, will be most brilliant representing. It is victorious twice Assyrian , in 616 av.
