Naboo

Naboo is a planet of the fictitious galaxy of the Star Wars , located in the Median Bordure. It is visible in episodes I and II, where it occupies a central place, and at the end of episodes III and VI (in the remasterized version).

The human ones and the Gungan S cohabit there although they are avoided mutually (at least until their coalition against the troops of invasion of the Fédération of the trade, cf Épisode I). The first live in cities with Venetian architecture , the seconds live in underwater cities of architecture of the type Art nouveau. Located in the sector of Chommell, Naboo is the native planet of Padmé Amidala and Jar Gravel bank Binks, as well as senator, last chancellor supreme of the Old Republic, then emperor, Palpatine.

The capital of Naboo is the city of Theed, located in edge of a high cliff.

Structure and geography

From a geological point of view, Naboo is a single phenomenon in all the Galaxy, and its structure remains a mystery with the eyes of the planetologists who studied it. Whereas the majority of planets have a core of magma and a crust of rock, Naboo seems to be more an old world not having a core in fusion.

Gigantic plates of rocks, several thousands kilometers in diameter, are surrounded by an immense structure in cells, composed of tunnels without end. This cavernous formation composes the essence of the internal structure of planet, and extends to surface, where it creates quantity of marshy lakes between the continents and the seas. These marshes, carefully avoided by Naboos, are the place of residence of extremely strange creatures. The climate is moderated and the seasons follow one another at pleasant and supported intervals. The planet is covered in great majority with large fatty grass plains surrounded by tens of rivers and brooks. Water is indeed present in abundance on Naboo. More the good example of this richness is undoubtedly to be the area of the lakes where the geological activity dug a large natural basin or flow there tens of rivers in the form of gigantic cascades before finishing their ways in a multitude of peaceful big lakes.

More the large chain of mountain, the Gallo mounts, crosses the largest continent and divides the large grass plains of north to the marshes of Lianorm in the south. In the south of this marsh large Paonga is, in which is the gungan city Otoh Gunga.

Government and political regime

It is necessary to distinguish two governments on this planet: that of Naboos (human) and that of the Gungan S.

the government naboo : The democracy is the base of the political regime of this planet. Thus, a sovereign is elected by the people for a four years mandate renewable one alone time during a great planetary vote (the Amidala queen was elected in a few minutes only). The monarch is assisted in his work by a governor , and a Advisory counsel composed of six also elected members, playing the part of royal cabinet. All resident in the Palais Royal of the capital, Theed.

the government Gungan : The gungans are organized in tribes, each one directed by a Chef . Nevertheless, there exists a higher institution: the great council gungan composed of reps , the kinds of advisers, the whole directed by a big boss elected (Nass Boss in episode I). The high institutions gungans sit in largest of these cities: Otoh Gunga.

Since the battle of Naboo which opposed them to the Federation of the Trade, the relations between the two people particularly improved: after the first step of the queen Amidala, they were continued by the various monarchs naboos.

Very advantageous for Gungans, they resulted in the development of the technological co-operation (stellar Hunter N-1, conveying BB-2), technique (colonization of Ohma of to relieve the demographic expansion of the gungans), policy (association with the galactic life) but so scientific (ruin crowned of Lianorm)… Side naboo, the control of the organic technology of plasma undoubtedly was very appreciated…

Alliance between the two people does not seem to be put at evil by the racist policy of the Galactic Empire and it is besides in a not dissimulated joy that they celebrated together the death of the Empereur Palpatine. It is thus not impossible that in the long term a planetary government of Naboo is born.

Culture

The human culture of Naboo is remained mainly pastoral and wandering, although urban centres developed. Deeja Peaks, in the Gallo mounts was one of the first colonies on planet what allowed him to keep a great political influence in this area. Keren and Theed is both developed as an agricultural center whose overproduction of food products allowed the birth of an important middle-class and supported, and less primary activities like the leisures. With time, Keren was transformed into a commercial platform between the various cities but also between planet and the remainder of the galaxy, while Theed became more aristocratic. Kaadera developed as a coastal town for the few fishermen of Naboo. Moenia was as for it the first, and the single one, human colony established in the marshes of Lianorm, traditional territory of Gungans.

Naboo developed like a traditional feudal company with a hereditary noble class and commoners, however with the difference of the majority of the feudal companies, there one found no lower class there serfs. The city-states of Naboo traded between them but also with the gungans. Generally the city-states recognized a " high roi" with title ceremonial - a function which turned between the princes of these cities, but which sometimes was preserved by a royal house. However, this title of high king purely honorary and was stripped of being able: it was a form of democracy of advanced pairing.

History

The period préhumaine

It is not known if Gungans current are the inhabitants " originaux" of Naboo, but they could have evolved/moved in the interior underground seas or on the marshy grounds.

What is certain it is that a pre-Gungan civilization of humanoïdes lived on this planet there are years thousands. It left monuments and ruins there dispersed in all planet. Largest of these ruins is in the north of the marsh of Lianorm, she is regarded as a place crowned by Gungans and their manufacturers like the " aînés" planet. Thereafter Gungans and the human scientists of Naboo put forth the assumption that the end of this old civilization would result owing to the fact that the " aînés" did not live any more harmonizes some with nature.

Human colonization

The gungans dominated Naboo for a long time, concentrating in particular in the marshes and close to the rivers; mountains and plains being regarded as " déserts". In 3951 Av. BY, Elsinor den Tasia reached the throne of Grizmallt, a planet of the core, and its reign corresponded to one period of exploration without precedent of the universe: unfortunately without success, the missions of exploration were lost or did not find any world to be colonized. In cause of despair it supported a last forwarding carried out by the republican explorer Kwilaan which with the head of a fleet of three vessels discovered Naboo. The planet quickly became famous among the large hunters for the indigenous Veermoks a few fifty years before the first human colony.

Thereafter, in 3900, of the human refugees fleeing a violent revolution on Grizmallt carried out by a member of the forwarding of kwilaan were established in these mountains and these large grassy plains. It is believed besides that Naboo was in the beginning a word gungan for " populate plaines". The cultural differences installed a tension between the two people - but the direct conflicts were rare. With time, there be more conflicts between the various human colonies than between the human ones and the gungans.

The Gungan Unification

Gungans lived for a long time in rival cities. In 3032 Av. BY, a lord of war of the name of Rogoe destroyed the sanctuary of Otoh while using of Bursas. The Gallo boss escaped this destruction while having left with hunting to provide food to a feast which prepared. Gallo linked the robbers under the command of the captain Marsune and the various defense forces of the gungans cities to form an large army of gungans. Gallo and Marsune with the head of this army conquered the capital of Rogoe, Spearhead (“Spearhead”) which they have then famous Otoh Gunga (the city of all gungans). The boss of Otoh Gunga, just as the descendant of Gallo, Rugor Nass, consequently, maintained a system of leadership on the boss of the other cities.

The first Human Gungans co-operations/

In spite of the prejudices existing between the human ones of Naboo and Gungans, the co-operation was not unknown between the two people. Thus, even if two civilizations had tendency to this looking in earthenware dog, they had suddenly depended one on the other in the exchanges carried out on the fringes, out of the sight of the company " respectable". In a progressive movement, when the human city Kaadara was founded in 2900 Av. BY, the Regent Kallos Sook rented a Gungan security force to protect the city against animals. Thereafter this tradition died out, but it was restored in Kaadara after the battle of Naboo in 32 Av. BY.

The colonization of Rori

The king Narmele “the explorer” colonized the marshy moon of Naboo, Rori, in the neighborhoods of 2000 Av. BY. Besides a city bears always its name. Some scientists affirm that Rori would have been colonized before the establishment of the colony of Narmele, but if it were true, no trace of natives was found to confirm it.

The Dynasty Jafan de Theed

In 1.000 AV BY, a crisis caused a conflict with large scales engaging all the city-states human of Naboo, in which it there have no participation of Gungans. The King Jafan of Theed put an end to the conflict, unifying any Naboo under its control in 830 Av. BY (Theed itself had been established only in 832 Av. BY). Jafan inaugurated the Grande Era of Peace and Theed became the royal capital, eclipsing Deeja Peak.

The Gungan/Naboo conflict

The Jafan dynasty will perdura until the extinction of the line (towards 150 Av. BY). At that time Gungans and Naboos were in open war. Naboos élirent a queen to lead them to the combat. Before its death, it decided to rather institute an elective monarchy than hereditary. Since, the function of monarch is elective, with a flexible constitution which takes account of the efforts carried out during the exercise by the elected civil servant. The conflict apparently ended in 121 Av. BY, it was the last time that the Gungane Large army was called before the battle of Naboo.
