Naaman Belkind

Naaman Belkind ( נעמןבלקינד ) was one of the members of the organization Nili. He is the nephew of the founder of the movement Bilou, Israel Belkind.

Naaman Belkind is born in Palestine in 1889, and grows in the town of Guedera, among the Bilou ïm. Then it leaves for Rishon LeZion where it works in the cellars with wine of the city.

With his/her cousin Avshalom Feinberg and its Eytan brother, Belkind joined the rows of Nili created in 1915 with an aim of helping the English in their combat carried out against the Othoman . Nili will have to face a relative opposition of the Yishouv, fearing potential reprisals. The network continues nevertheless its activities.

In September 1917, Naaman Belkind leaves for the Egypt to inquire into the circumstances of the assassination of Avshalom Feinberg some time before. Intercepted by the Bedouin of the the Sinai, it is given to the Turkish authorities which send it to Damas. Shown espionage, Naaman Belkind is hung there on October 16th, 1917, with Yossef Lishansky.

Its body will be repatriated thereafter in Israel, and Naaman Belkind rests today in the cemetery of Rishon LeZion.
