The Néo-Destour was a Political party Tunisia N of 1934 with 1964.

Founded the March 2nd 1934 with Ksar Hellal, after a scission of the Destour by a group of young intellectuals: Habib Bourguiba, Mahmoud Materi, Tahar Sfar and Bahri Guiga. The party aims at the origin at releasing the Tunisian people of the French protectorate. In a message of the June 24th 1934, the Résident general of France in Tunisia, Marcel Peyrouton, warns the civil controllers that a new party has just been born and that its objective is “to release the State husseinite French protectorate. ”

Peyrouton, future Minister of Interior Department of the Mode of Vichy, is not long in carrying severe blows in Néo-Destour, as of the September 3rd 1934, followed other confrontations in 1938, 1943 and 1952.

After independence obtained the March 20th 1956, the election of the constituent National Assembly, the March 25th, gives all the seats to Néo-Destour which can thus direct Tunisia under the impulse of its president, Bourguiba, which assumes the chairmanship of the assembly the April 8th. It sets up the bases of the modern State then, makes proclaim the République the July 25th 1957 and makes adopt a constitution on June 1st 1959. The party also gains the elections with the National Assembly the November 8th 1959.

Vis-a-vis the socialist orientations of president Bourguiba, Néo-Destour becomes the Socialist party destourien (PSD) in 1964.
