Nénètse

The nénètse is a spoken language by the people nénètse in Russia. There are two principal dialects: the Nénètse of the forests and the Nénètse of the tundra.

The languages nénètses are spoken by approximately 27000 people.

Structure

The languages nénètses have a syllabic structure CV (C): an initial consonant followed by a vowel and sometimes a final consonant. The Schwa can take the place of the final consonant. Normally, the words do not start with vowels, but in the dialects of the west, that can arrive.

Writing

The nénètse is written with an adaptation of the Cyrillic alphabet. One adds a letter and one uses: 'and "
