Néez (Yrénées-Atlantiques)

The Néez of Gan (or Noses , Born , Born , Neys , Born ) is a Affluent Gave of Pau on its left bank, between the Soust and Las Tampers, downstream from the town of Pau.

Etymology

The name of Néez is shared with another affluent, the Néez of Saint-Créac, in the south of Lourdes. This name is an alternative of the Hydronyme Pyrénéen Lez ( alternation L/N ).

Geography

Néez is born on the territory from Rébénacq; it is fed out of water by:

  • the brook of Houndarnas , a small brook resulting from the slopes of Sévignacq,
and especially by several resurgences of the Gave d' Ossau in the south of the village:
  • pisciculture of Néez, 302 m, 0.8 to 1 m 3 /s
  • Liets, 345 m, 0.3 to 0.6 m 3 /s
  • Balagué - Houn der Naz (on chart IGN), 312 m, 0.1 to 0.3 m 3 /s (to note the assimilation by Nas Nose”)
  • the Oelh deth Néez (the eye of Néez), 315 m, 2.7 to 5 m 3 /s, most important, collected for the drinking water supply of the town of Pau.

Néez runs out towards north to join the gave of Pau with Jurançon.
