Myrtus communis

The myrtle commune ( myrtus communis ) is a shrub buissonnant with the drawn up port, arching with the age.

Sheets from 2 to 5 cm length, opposed, oval, glazed, of color dark green.

Flowering: from June to October. Solitary flowers with five petals, with a central white cheesecloth tuft. diameter of the flowers: 1 to 2 cm.

The fruits are ellipsoidal oblong bays, of color crimson-black, a half to one cm in diameter.

Height and diameter: approximately 3 m.

Origin: the Mediterranean.

Average rusticity.

One finds many different varieties and cultivars.
