Mygale.org

Mygale or Mygale.org was a Hébergeur free Web for Particulier and association pioneer on the French-speaking fabric. Founded in 1996 by Frederic Ciréra within the framework of a project of Control to the University Paris VIII (Saint-Denis), Mygale became in 8 months a major actor of the French-speaking Web with its 6000 personal sites. The proposed services were a Adresse email and 5 Mo of place for the file S. These services were free. Victim of its success, the administrator of the site had had on several occasions to suspend the inscriptions. A system of sponsorship was then set up. A community was quickly created, the members, or Mygaliens, meeting virtually on IRC, participant in forums and mailing-lists, and meetings of visu. A system of mutual aid, aiming at educating the novel members, was based on the participation of the community, and in particular of the godfathers, and the assistant webmaster.

The Mygale waiter used the Band-width then public network of research RENATER, depend on the DGRT which requires its closing in 1997, calling upon officially that this project leaves the framework of their mission, and causing an outcry of protests on behalf of the French-speaking Webmasters. The Supplier of access Internet Havas Online (HOL) point of disjunction then gracefully Mygale until in 1998. Finally Mygale amalgamates with The (virtual) Rod creating thus the company Multimania.
