My uncle Antoine
My uncle Antoine is a Film Québécois of Claude Jutra produces in 1971. He is always regarded as a major film of Québécois cinematography. He was turned in the area of Black Lake.
Synopsis
The film is held in the years 1940 in Quebec with Thetford Mines is. In 1940, the general Magasin is still in the villages the center of attraction and the place of exchanges of all the community. Christmas day before, only day of the year when the firm mine, lead the inhabitants to meet in the general store. Manager of the store, the uncle Antoine, with his humor and his mouthfuls of gin, animates the places under the interested eye of his nephew Benoît (15 years), who is orphan and who lives in his uncle. In spite of the approach of the festivities, the uncle decides to meet the need for a fellow-citizen and is made accompany in sledge by Benoît. They go both to the farm of a poor family. They bring back the corpse of a boy who has just died. During the long evening and night spent with his/her uncle, equipped to them initiates Benoît with the hardest aspects of the life and the fact of aging.
Price
In periodic polls organized by the International festival of Toronto and composed of film criticisms, historians, producers and of member of the Canadian industry of film, the jury classified it like “ the largest film Canadian of all times ” successively in 1984, 1993 and 2004.
