My way is a Chanson American E, adaptation of the song of Claude François entitled As usual .

As usual

This song is initially intended for Herve Vilard, only artist having accepted to record it after the refusal, inter alia, of Michel Sardou.

Jacques Revaux, which wished to work with Claude François, request with Herve Vilard to agree to give up the song which it will take again however a few years later.

The melody was made up with an anglophone text entitled For Me . Claude François proposes a new idea set of themes: the routine of the daily newspaper within the life of a couple. On this basis, the lyric writer Gilles Thibaut creates As usual .

Jacques Revaux composes the verse, Claude François prolongs it and composes the refrain-bridge (passage which goes up) whereas Gilles Thibaut sign the text, inspired of a recent event in the life of Claude François: its sentimental rupture with France Gall.

My Way

Paul Anka, of passage to Paris, brings back a copy of the disc of Claude François in his luggage. He acquires of them the rights for his American production company . A few months later, it writes an adaptation on a different topic, a kind of retrospective on the life of a man of ripe age and pensive glance which affirms, in connection with each striking fact of its existence: “I did it with my own way”. Paul Anka presents his adaptation to his/her friend Frank Sinatra who engraves it at once. My Way knows a good diffusion which is worth to him a 27e position with the Hit-parade states-unien in March 1969.
