My Morning Jacket

My Morning Jacket is a group Rock formed with Louisville, Kentucky, E. - U., in 1998. The group is recognized for its air songs, atmospheric, with incursions more folk or country sometimes, and for the use of reverb in the voice of the singer Jim James, a tendency which however attenuated on the fourth album, Z , launched in October 2005. The voice of James, who composes the songs of the group, sometimes was compared with that Neil Young.

The name of the group was selected after James saw an old jacket ( jacket ) on which were registered letters MMJ, became the acronym of My Morning Jacket.

Biography

The group, formed in 1998, launched two albums independently on label Darla Records, before signing on ATO Records in 2002. They have since fact of appearing two other albums. In a general way, each one of their four albums received criticisms positive. Their performances live inspired also cause a great enthusiasm.

Collaborations/Other appearances

In 2005, My Morning Jacket appeared in the film Elizabethtown of Cameron Crowe, where they interpreted fictitious a rock'n'roll group there named Ruckus. In film, MMJ interpreted the song Freebird of Lynyrd Skynyrd. The quintet also recorded the new part Where To Begin especially for the original soundtrack of film of Crowe.

In 2005, a few months before the publication of the album Z , Jim James makes an appearance on the album I' m Wide Awake, It' S Morning of Bright Eyes, and on two songs of M.Ward, an artist who then ensured the first parts of the spectacles of My Morning Jacket.

In 2006, MMJ took part in the festival Coachella, in the desert of California.
