My Bloody Valentine

My Bloody Valentine is a group noisy shoegaze Irish composed of the Guitariste/Chanteur/Compositeur Kevin Shields, Batteur Colm O' Ciosoig, Bassiste Debbie Googe and of the singer/guitarist Belinda Butcher. In spite of a continuous production the individual ones and an album during second half of the Years 1980, the group becomes truly headlight at the time of the exit of the albums Isn' T Anything in 1988, and especially of the private individual Loveless in 1991. A last experimental, single album and completely innovator, that many specialists regard today as one of the major albums of the English rock'n'roll independent of the end of the 20th century. The group more made only some discrete appearances since then, and the auditive problems of the singer and principal thinking head, Kevin Shields, return the assumption of a new very improbable album.

Style

My Bloody Valentine , by her at the same time extreme and melody style, will be truly precursory of a new kind, that some will call noisy, and that the specialized musical press will call shoegazing.

Heiress of the experimental rock'n'roll of Sonic Youth, just like of the melodies plus bruitists of the group The Jesus and Mary Chain, the music of My Bloody Valentine is singular in her kind. The sound is voluntarily extremely bruitist, the song under-is mixed, the choruses is sometimes samplés and remanipulés, such of the instruments. The guitars are saturated and occupy the major part of sound space, while the rhythm section alternates the moments of great power and reserve. A music which will surprise the not-informed listener and which however proposes melodies of a great quality, which thread skilfully through the wall of its frame by the guitars and the battery.

At the time of the rounds having followed the last two albums, the group, which played on particularly high noise level, launched out each time in an uninterrupted torrent of guitars saturated during fifteen minutes, on only one note, with the right in the middle of their song You Made Me Realize .

My Bloody Valentine will influence several other groups of Rock, such as for example Ride, Slowdive or the Boo Radleys, without in so far as none them manages to exceed the limits fixed by their predecessors, so much on the level of the production than of the melody characteristic.

In 2003, Kevin Shields took part in the original music of the film Lost in Translation of Sofia Coppola.

In November 2007, Kevin Shields officially announced the reformation of the group and a series in concerts in England in 2008.
