Muslim Magomayev

Muslim Magomayev (; ), born the August 17th 1942 with Bakou, is a Baryton and popular singer Azerbaïdjan active board during the years 1960 and 1970 in Soviet Union.

Muslim Magomayev belongs to the one of the most respected artistic dynasties of Azerbaïdjan. His/her grandfather Muslim Magomayev (1885-1937), the friend and contemporary of the large type-setter Uzeyir Hajibeyov, belonged to the first generation of the type-setters Azerbaïdjan board. The father of Magomayev, Mohammad Magomayev, died during the Second world war, was a talented painter, and his/her mother was actress.

In 1962, Magomayev appears for the first time at Moscow where he sings within the framework of the Days of the Azerbaijani culture. He sings two works in a concert of official reception on the principal scene of the USSR, the palate of the congresses of the the Kremlin and becomes thus a celebrity.

In 1964 - 1965, Muslim is with the test with La Scala of Milan, but refuses the invitation which is made to him to sing with the Bolchoï on its return. In the place, it turns to the popular music, becoming thus an idol for several generations of Soviet music lovers.

He plays Olympia in 1969, and Bruno Coquatrix offers a contract to him, but the ministry for the culture Soviet refuses to let it leave, alleging that he must play in the concerts of the government.

He was also a type-setter of song and film musics. Magomayev also played in films for the cinema and television.
