Musics of Streets: New Territory of Sound Arts

Musics of Streets: New Territory of Sound Arts is a Festival of music which proceeds with Besancon (France) during 4 days in October since 2006.

Presentation

History

In 2004, the town of Besancon, seeking to obtain a cultural and festive event having a national and international visibility, lance a call for projects which shows an about sixty proposals the coming from great names from the French festivals. It is gained by the Nantes François-Xavier Ruan and Pascal Esseau (creators and developers of the scene of Pannonica jazz in Nantes) over an original concept mélant various styles of musics and various approaches of the sound universe having vocation to invade urban space.

The first edition, which was held from October 5th to 8th 2006, thus proposed a mixture of Musiques of the world, Jazz, Hip hop, new Fanfare S, Brass band, bricophonists (installations and machineries sound) and brass bands traditional which saw killing approximately 70.000 people in the streets from the city.

The site

The Musiques festival of Streets proceeds in the parks (Micaud, Gare of Water, Granvelle), interior streets, course of buildings and on the places of the historical center of Besancon.

Edition 2007

The 2nd edition of this festival will take place from Thursday the 4th to Sunday, October 7 2007.
