Musical instruments
Any object which can produce a its controlled by a Musicien, that it is conceived, modified or drawn aside of its use, can be regarded as a musical instrument . Of course, the voice or the Main S, even if they are not objects, is regarded as musical instruments since they take part in a musical work.
General information
By its mode of attack, its form and the matter of its case of resonance, the support or not of its vibration, the musical instrument determines the stamp , one of the four characteristics of the its with the height, the length and the intensity. Progress of the musical Acoustics makes it possible to better include/understand the components of the harmonic Specter specific to each sound source.An musical instrument is divided into two distinct parts:
- that which creates the vibration,
- that which transforms this vibration into a stamp which characterizes it.
It does not matter their matter, the instruments are classified by their method of production of the sound: the Organologie is the detailed study of these tools makers of music and their various categorizations. The stamp of these instruments can be sometimes transformed by an accessory like the Sourdine S for the cords and coppers or a Kazoo for the voice.
To make a sound, the vibration can be created starting from a cord, of a airstream or of a percussion; instruments can combine several systems, most recent go from the electromechanical until the Virtuel.
A cord
Of matter, of varied size and size, a cord can be rubbed, pinch or struck.- * ''' the Cords ''' (or cordophones),
- - String instruments rubbed, like the Violin or the Hurdy-gurdy with wheel,
- - String instruments pinches, like the Guitar or the Harpsichord, or the Toothing-stone
- - String instruments struck, like the Piano or the Cymbalum.
- - String instruments pinches, like the Guitar or the Harpsichord, or the Toothing-stone
- - String instruments rubbed, like the Violin or the Hurdy-gurdy with wheel,
An airstream
The airstream of the ''' instruments wind ''' (or aérophones) can be produced by the breath of the musician, a mechanical blower or an air pocket.-
* the Voice exploits all the possibilities of the mucous membranes of the Larynx (vocal cords).
- : * Wood have a Biseau or a Anche:
- - Instrument with bevel, like all the Flute S or the plays with mouth of organ,
- - Instrument with free sheer, like the Harmonica S or the Accordion S,
- - Instrument with simple sheer, like the Clarinet S or the Saxophone S,
- - Instrument with sheer doubles, like the Hautbois or the Basson S.
- - Instrument with free sheer, like the Harmonica S or the Accordion S,
- : * Coppers use the vibration of the Lèvre S in a mouth like the Trompette S, the horns with book or astonishing it Didgeridoo.
- : * Wood have a Biseau or a Anche:
A percussion
the Percussions , with its given or not, include any instrument by which a body in striking another.- * the Skins (or membranophones), a membrane struck by the hands or with the rods, granted or not like the Djembé or the Drinking cup;
- : * the Keyboards (or lamellaphones, idiophones with its given), a series of wood blades agreement ées or metal struck by rods like the Xylophone or the Steel-drum;
- : * the Accessories (or idiophones with its unspecified)… all others: triangle with the Maracas.
- : * the Keyboards (or lamellaphones, idiophones with its given), a series of wood blades agreement ées or metal struck by rods like the Xylophone or the Steel-drum;
N.B. The percussions were subdivided by the theorists in " membranophones" and " idiophones" (like " cordophone" and " aérophone" , these terms are not very used and except dictionaries) . The development of this large family (more than 500) at the 20th century, and particularly of the instruments with " claviers" or with " lamelles" , this new categorization as much for the percussionnists that for the teachers imposed.
Combination
Instruments combining several modes of setting in vibration:- mechanical Instruments, like the Serinette or the Barrel organ.
Electromechanics with the virtual one
- electromechanical Instrument, like the Organ Hammond or the Yamaha CP80,
- electronic Musical instrument, like the Waves Martenot,
- Instrument electroanalogic, like the Moog Micromoog (analogical synthetizer) or the Yamaha DX7 and Roland FANTOM X8 (numerical synthetizers),
- virtual Instrument of the Atari to the Macintosh.
