Musical chair

General principle

Rules of the game

The player must turn in circle around the chairs while the music plays and being sitting on a chair when the music is stopped. If not, it is eliminated and leaves the play.

Goal of the play

The goal of the play thus consists in finding a front seat the other participants.

Material

Music, chairs and space necessary to turn without danger around the chairs. The number of chairs must be strictly lower than the number of participant (generally, it is equal to the number of participants minus one).

Installation

It is preferable to bring together three participants at least. Two participants, the play is played in only one sequence and loses of its interest. Contrary, a too great number of players makes the play not very gravitational for the participants eliminated at the beginning of part. If the participants are numerous, it is preferable to divide them into several groups.

It is necessary to be organized to be able to start and stop the music at any time of the play. The chairs should be installed back-to-back rings some, so that the players can on the one hand turn around the circle of the chairs and on the other hand to sit down easily on the chairs.

Unfolding

The play is played in several successive sequences.

At the beginning of a sequence, the players place themselves upright rings some around chairs, music dumb. As soon as the music plays, the players turn around the chairs. As soon as the music stops, the players asseoient themselves. That which does not have a chair is eliminated and a chair is withdrawn from the circle.

One launches the following sequence, with a player and a chair in less. So on until the victory of the last player.

End of part and winner

The last sequence opposes the last two players to the catch with only one chair. That of both which is the first to be sat down when the music stops gains the part.
