Museum of weapons

The Musée of Weapons of the town of Liege was created thanks to the initial donation of the manufacturer of weapons Pierre-Joseph Lemille. It opened its doors in 1885, " the city ardente" was still one of largest producing of portable weapons in the world at that time.

Its collections begin with donations from arms manufacturers inhabitant of Li2ege, today it gathers nearly 13.000 parts in its collections. If its initial goal were to show the professionals what was manufactured in the world as regards arms manufacture, it has the role, since the Sixties, to interest the general public.

The Museum of Weapons is installed in an old neo-classic residence, going back to 1776. Work is currently in hand in order to integrate the Museum of Weapons in the vast whole of large the Musée Curtius, its reopening is planned for 2007.
