Museum of the toy

The museum of the Toy is located at Poissy, in the Yvelines, and is devoted to the Jouet S and the sets of children. It is installed in the portery (XIVe century) of the old abbey of Poissy. Opened since 1975, it presents approximately 800 plays and toys dated between 1850 and wanagaine mistofly1950, testifying to a manner of playing sometimes completed, but generally timeless, beyond the modes and of technology. They are toys of industrial production, French and German for the majority, largely diffused starting from the middle of the XIXe century. One discovers there porcelain headstocks, teddy bear, electric steam trains and, building sets, plays optical and scientists… The nail of the visit being the attic with its network of electric trains which charms small and large!
