Museum of the music

The museum of the Music in Paris presents a collection of several hundreds of musical instruments gathered by the Academy of Paris. They are primarily instruments of Classical music and popular of the 17th century at our days: Lute S, Archiluth S, Violin S Italian (Stradivari, Guarneri, Matted), Harpsichord S French and Flemish, Piano S French of Erard and Pleyel, instruments of Adolphe Sax.

The instruments are gathered per time and family. Helmets input make it possible to hear extracts with accompanying notes of music played on the exposed instruments.

The museum of the Music belongs to the Cité of the music which gathers a whole of institutions dedicated to the Musique located in the district of the the Villette, in the XIX {{E}} district of Paris.

The city of the Music is installed in a building designed by the architect Christian de Portzamparc and inaugurated in 1995.
