In 1990, the monastery of the Visitation of Mills being about to disappear, Gerard Picaud, friend of this community, promised in Mère Francoise-Bernadette Lara, professes Caen, to preserve at Moulins a memory of the presence of the Visitation in this city. He proposed and obtained that the Bourbonnais Museum, managed by the Company of Emulation of Bourbonnais, accommodates a new room devoted to the Order of the Visitation with Mills.

With the assistance of about fifteen monasteries, it gathered 602 objects: memories of the saints Founders, works, objets d'art, objects of devotion,… and on December 11th 1992, “Glance on the Visitation” exposure permanent of works of the Visitation, distributed in three new rooms of the Museum Bourbonnais, opened its doors. Then, to the wire of time, the reception of new depositors and the deposits increasingly more brought to reconsider the conservation and the presentation of these collections in constant progression.

In 2000, a project of extension of the permanent exposure was launched. It related to the addition of two new rooms, intended to allow a redeployment of the collections, and the presentation, under conditions of development and safety adapted, of a remarkable whole of Orfèvrerie. After one year of work, the strong Room was opened with the public.

At the first January 2005, the Company of Emulation of Bourbonnais ceased managing its Museum, and the site became the " Museum of the Visitation and the life Bourbonnaise". In May 2005, Regard association on the Visitation received the approval of the the Holy See via the Pontifical Council for the cultural goods of the Église.
