Museum of the Transmissions

The museum of the Transmissions - space Ferrié is a museum located at Cesson-Sévigné in Ille-et-Vilaine, on the technopolis Rennes Atalante.

The museum of the Transmissions gathers objects military and civil of télécoms and relating to data processing, the electronic war and the figure. It aims at explaining the contribution of the communication and information systems to Defense.

This cultural center is the result of a co-operation between the area Brittany, the department of Ille-et-Vilaine, Rennes metropolis, Cesson-Sévigné and the ministry for defense. Joining together Historians and engineers, the scientific advice wanted to take up the challenge to present a synthesis of the evolution of the and information systems civil and military Communication. Four levels of the building open to the visit communicate visually by a central well. 3rd and 2nd stages are occupied by the permanent exposure. The temporary exhibition, the teaching service, the memorial and the showroom are located on the 1st floor.

The museum in constant change in particular thanks to the renewal of the temporary exhibitions but also thanks to new acquisitions and is models manufactured within the museum.

A rocket ARIANE 4 on the scale 1/10e accommodates the visitor at the entry of the museum. A rocket ARIANE 5 with the 1/10e, is inside exposed, like another counterpart of ARIANE 1 and a model of the whole of launching of ARIANE 4. One can also admire a counterpart of Hélios, satellite of new generation for the military observation.
