Museum of the French revolution of Vizille
In the south of Grenoble, on the Road Napoleon, draws up the castle of Vizille, old residence of the dukes of Lesdiguières (17th century), of the Perier family (1782-1895) and the presidents of the Republic (1924-1972). It is in this castle that met, on July 21st, 1788, the assembly of the three orders of the Dauphine one. The Parliament of Vizille, political demonstration determining in the starter of the upheavals of 1789, sealed the destiny of the castle, today museum of the French revolution .
The museum of the French revolution has as a subject the varied aspects of the history of the Revolution, as well as the cultural artistic creation and transformations into Europe, of the Lights to the romanticism. It presents works of art and objects of history of the revolutionary age and is interested in all that refers to it or has been inspired some for two centuries.

Decorative arts clarify the daily life: furniture, porcelains, earthenware French, English and Dutch. Among the most singular objects, the stones of the Bastille and the sabers of the national guard appear. The drawings and the prints, as well as fragile works - ranges, miniatures, printed fabrics - preserved safe from the light, are presented in the temporary exhibitions. As for works of the XIXe century, they attest vitality of the reference to 1789 in the movement which led to the establishment of the French Republic. Expression of their time, they recall that the political news and the historical research made evolve/move the approach and the interpretation of the Revolution. The entry with the museum is free for all the every day except Tuesday.
On the fourth floor, the information center - library Albert Soboul places at the disposal of the researchers and the students important funds patrimonial and an exceptional documentation relating to the art and the history of the French revolution. The presence of the libraries of work of the large historians Albert Soboul, Jacques Godechot, Jean-Rene Suratteau and Roger Barny, given by their families, make today a place impossible to circumvent of it for the revolutionary studies, attended by researchers of the whole world.
