Museum of the Chapter

Located in a medieval tower, the Museum of the Chapter presents on two stages the history of the town of Épinal.

With rez of roadway, the model of Mr Gnaedinger reproduces celebrates it table of Nicolas Bellot who had painted the Epinal-native city in 1626, on ordering of the city which wished to have a plan of the cadastral type, or to make note by the Dukes of Lorraine, then " suzerains" residents of Epinal, work to undertake to give in state the the Moselle, river which crosses Épinal. The remainder of the exposure is dedicated to the evolutions of the city, evolutions obviously presented… in images!

The first stage is devoted to the archaeological artefacts, testifying to the life of the Residents of Epinal to the Middle Ages and at the time modern, which were found at the time of the various organized excavations with Épinal since about thirty years: balls of guns, elements architectural, objects of the daily life, etc

As for the second stage, it accommodates the Chanoinesses d' Epinal, these ladies noble which marked the Epinal-native religious life, and which one can still admire the houses in the street of the Chapter, near of the Museum.
