Museum of shipping
The museum of the Conflans-Holy-Honorine shipping of (Yvelines) is a municipal Musée, but with national vocation, devoted to the shipping, the Bateau X river and the inland waterways. It was created in 1965, on the initiative of Louise Weiss and was entrusted to François Beaudouin, archeologist nautician who was the conservative until his retirement in 1994, date on which the current conservative, Laurent Roblin succeeded to him. François Beaudouin, who continues his research on the old boats, remains with the museum as an honorary conservative. The museum is in the castle of the Priory, on the heights of Conflans-Holy-Honorine.
The museum shelters very rich collections of models of boats and works of art of all the French basins, many objects of shipping and several dioramas reconstituting on reduced scale the life of certain ports. One can in particular admire a port of Adour, another of the Dordogne, and also the arrival of the water stage coach in Paris at the beginning of the XIXe century. It has also an important information center open to the researchers. And finally, it acquired truths boats flying personnel: the old tug boat " Jacques" , more than centenary, whose unfortunately steam engine is in another museum, that of Installations, and the tug boat-pusher " Triton 25" , last tug boat to be built in 1954, and transformed into pusher with the beginning of the year 1960. " Triton 25" is opened to the public on certain occasions, and visits themselves completely. He is operational.
Lastly, the museum, via its association AAMB, has a very active leading policy, with at least two " books of the musée" , devoted per annum to various subjects, and an annual catalog of the exposure. Of course, pedagogy is not forgotten and it accommodates school complexes regularly.
