The House

Built in 1928, the house of the banker patron David van Buuren presents a typical architecture external of the School of Amsterdam, whereas interior decoration constitutes a unit single Art Déco arranged by Belgian interior designers, French and Dutch. The couple van Buuren had made its villa a “academy alive”, where movable rare, carpets, stained glasses, sculptures and international masterpieces remained in their place, in the intimacy of a “house of deprived memory”, become museum in 1975 by testamentary will of Alice van Buuren.

The Garden

Since their initial state of 26 ares, in 1924, the gardens extend on 1,5 ha. A unit of style and time exists between the part drawn by Jules Buyssens and the house Art Déco. 45 years afterwards, Alice designed the gardens of Rene Pechère like a new complement of the villa. Finished, the park is composed of the Picturesque Jardin , the Labyrinthe and the Jardin of the Heart . The Picturesque Garden , “garden regular” with rosery in geometrical reason, points out the linear spirit Art Déco. This bosky bower in the middle of Brussels is worth visiting in any season.
