Musea
Musea is a musical label French with nonlucrative goal, dedicated to the promotion of the progressive Rock.
Musea is founded in 1985 as an association with nonlucrative goal. Its first activity consisted in gathering the existing and not-distributed vinyl stock French artists of progressive Rock, Jazz-Rock'n'roll New Fusion and Musics. The publication of a catalog made it possible to propose them with the sale, as well with private individuals as with wholesalers, both in France and abroad. Including/understanding at the time nearly a hundred of discs, the Musea catalog was mainly made up of car-productions, which will become articles of collection: DÜN, FALSTAFF, SYNOPSIS, STELLAR EIDER DUCK, NUANCE, etc This manner of making deals without seeking the profit important and was deliberated on behalf of the founders, conscious that they were then little of commercial potential of the musical styles to which they were attached. They did not see how it would be possible to make at the same time benefit, and to make it possible to the musicians to obtain the reward which they deserved for their creativity. Logically, very little profit generated by this activity should be allocated to the artists, and only a voluntary organization and not seeking to grow rich, could make that possible. Passion for the music, the taste of the human contacts and the desire to launch out were enough strong to embark in this adventure
Today, the activities of Musea are spread in three major axes:
- the production
- French distribution
- the mail-order selling
