Musa Ben Nusayr

Musa Ibn Nosseyr , Mûsâ Ben Nusayr (Arab: موسىبننصير ) was a governor and general Moslem under the Omeyyades, born in the area of the Yemen (640 - 716). In 698 it was named Emir of North Africa. It was responsible for the repression of a Berber rebellion important. It also had to manage the constant threats of the fleet of the Byzantine Empire and built a fleet able to conquer the islands of Ibiza, Majorque and Minorque. It sent Tariq ibn Ziyad which was one of its lieutenants to conquer the Iberian peninsula in 711.
