Biography

From the Niagara with…

Born in 1963, Muriel Moreno, girl of notary impassions itself for the music. In 1982, come to make studies of History of art in Rennes, it meets Daniel Chenevez (who holds the keyboards in many groups). Very quickly, Muriel becomes singer within the " group; yellow shade " also formed of Daniel Chenevez in the keyboards and Jose Tamarin with the guitar. The first songs are very synthetic, limits techno-pop. Within a scene of Rennes very rock'n'roll, the trio is cantilever, better, it is dissociated by its originality. They make their first concert in Paradise then an appearance in Transmusicales at the end of 1982 followed by a performance in the area. Muriel will be in parallel Dj in Rennes while continuing its studies which will lead it to obtain its control with mention of history of Article.

The Yellow Shade becomes the Niagara (in reference to film of Henri Hathaway with Marilyn Monroe) and proposes its songs with the jury of Rennes of “Blows of talents in the hexagon”, an operation of the ministry for the culture which makes it possible to finance the recording of young artists. There are cold sweats when it is thought that the model is initially rejected to be fished out at the last minute. They thus enter finally in studio to record their first individual, sign at Polydor and “Tchiki Bang” leaves in September 1985. The media hang immediately. With this song with the exotic and sensual charm, the Niagara find the success which will not leave them any more until their separation and make a round of the clubs. Jose Tamarin leaves the group. “The love with the beach”, them 2nd individual fate in May 1986 and becomes one of the tubes of the summer. The duet tired to pass its life in the train, comes to settle in Paris. In October 86, the individual one “I must from go away” confirm a talent shone upon by a beautiful control of the composition and install Muriel in a role which will finish by him weighing, that of a sexy woman in Barbarella. The first album “Still the last kiss” leaves in November 86. One finds a pop one there nothing carefree acidulated by rates/rhythms Cuban Negroes, funky or jazzy. The public adores, the Niagara align successes with the exit of “When the city sleeps” and make Olympia in spring 87 at the time of their first true French round.

The album “What a Hell! ” arrives in April 88. Their musical evolution is directed towards a style plus rock'n'roll. Muriel is presented under a new blazing look with a red hair and approaches many extravagant hats. The album makes a tobacco. “Enough! ”, “Sun of winter”, “Flames of the Hell” and “Louis Babies” trônent in signal 50. It is thus with the wheel in motion that the Niagara leaves in round in 1989 and visits several countries of which Morocco, Tunisia, Canada and the United States (New York and Chicago).

Then they connect direct on the preparation of a new album. “Religion”, leaves in April 90. There more doubt, one knows that the Niagara is a rock'n'roll group. “Religion” is dominated by the guitars and the voice of Muriel is rageuse and aggressive there. “I saw”, “While the fields burn”, “Psychotropic” and “the life east can be beautiful” are essential at this beginning of decade. And the Niagara sets out again on the road for a Religion Tower. With a show with the height of their perfectionism, the round is a real success.

They make a success of a master stroke while being the first French group to be made sponsoriser by MTV Europe. The television channel always adored the vidéos of the Niagara and did not deprive itself to make them discover.

Muriel starts to feel tiredness. The Niagara produce a new album every two years, connect repetitions, turning of clips, promotion, concerts and this rate/rhythm of hell becomes difficult to support for Muriel.

In 1992, the duet however turns over in studio. “The Truth”, which leaves simultaneously in all Europe, is the largest production of the Niagara. “The end of stars” is melody, “a million year” gets dressed seventies whereas “Minotaure” is let go to temptations bluesy. The black and apocalyptic vision of the world is resolutely distant from that with the merry irony of the beginnings. Then the rate/rhythm of the exhausting rounds begins again for a time…. The Niagara is in Sweden when Muriel becomes completely voiceless! The remainder of the European round is cancelled. It starts again a few weeks later in France to finish in Montreal in front of an enthusiastic public of five thousand people. Of return in the south of France, they still give a last concert. Nobody, at the time step even Daniel knows whereas it is about the ultimate concert of the Niagara.

Muriel, tired, depressed and wearies, does not withstand more the pressure. It decides to stop… The Niagara is not any more! Thus the brilliant career is concluded from a group having succeeded in all the fields. Each one of their albums is a musical and personal photograph, at quite precise moments, of what was the Niagara entity.

… a career solo

In 1994, Muriel installs a true studio in its house of the 11th district of Paris. It then starts to work all alone on more personal titles. Texts, music, programming, production, nothing escapes to him.

At the end of one year of work and voluntary insulation, it polishes the whole with additional Christian Lechevretel and some musicians. May 10th, 1996, Muriel Only leaves “ Toute ”, an album melancholic person and intimist. Several individual will be extracted from it of which “Close to the green lake” and “All goes well if I avoid thinking of it” for whom the artist will carry out its first video clip.

Muriel collaborates in the tread in various projects. It composes the music of films “Therapy Russian” in 1997 and “Locked in the syndrom” in 1998. It also carries out the music of a troop of dance. It turns over to the school in one the 1st time to Schola Cantorum (school of Salsa) then to the Cim (school of Jazz) where it is familiarized amongst other things with the battery.

The continuation was rather unexpected… the star launches out in the electro minimalist. Indeed the desire for making an instrumental album is essential then on it more and more like an obviousness. Beginner in electronic music, it has as a reference only his own work of programmatrice on “All Alone”. It is locked up and insulated again and found in the use of the machines the ideal vector for lets be expressed its imaginary. “ Required Elements ” is thus conceived without any reference to the electronic music but borrowing rather from the classical music, jazz and with all that the artist could ingurgiter during these voyages. The album leaves in March 2000 in 15 country and individual “the You edge' T get rid off it” is even seen classified in several charts independent in England.

“Required Elements” hardly left that Muriel works already with the composition of the following album. Working like previously in its home-studio, all the titles are composed by its care. Many artists will come to collaborate for the mixing of the pieces like Yarol Poupaud FF, Alexkid… “ Surviving the day ” leaves in March 2001 in 18 countries. This album sees also the timid return of Muriel Moreno as a singer.

Voted by plebiscite by the public, Muriel becomes also DJ and mixes with the four corners of the world. “For me to be Dj it is resting, one gives pleasure and one must give pleasure with the night birds”.

Dynamo/Slove

Muriel becomes friendly with Marc Collin author of the opus “New wave” which was sold to 1 million specimens in the world. From their meeting is born the group Dynamo and first individual “To rivet off No return” left in 2004. It is also the great return of Muriel as a singer. Their 2nd title “I wish I has servant boy” (style new wave techno génialissime) is the title headlight of the BO of the Riviera film (realized by Anne Villacèque/with Miou-Miou). The group leaves, in January 2006, them 3rd title “Bark like has dog”. A percussion title dance hyper.

In 2006, Muriel collaborates this time with Dj Julien Plaisir Of and lends its voice to the title " Slove". It produces, moreover, the clip (to be seen on its site) left at the end of 2006.

Muriel continues its collaboration with Julien. They prepare a very pretty series of resumptions of slow fox trot. Let us hope that this pretty work will be born on an album or in legal downloading! Moreover it would be a question of new individual of Dynamo… to the great pleasure of Dj and fans…
