Murger

In the vineyards of Burgundy, a murger or meurger is a thick a stone wall or heap faced, which either is built in only once during the clearing and of the breaking up of a piece for the creation of a vine, or slowly consisted the recurring épierrage of an existing vine.

Geographical extension of the term

Historically, the use of the term is not limited to Burgundy. This one meets (or met) especially Paris basin in the East, in Burgundy, but also in Poitou. It has multiple alternatives: meurgé , meurgée , meurger , merger , murgé , murget , murgée , murgie , murgier , murgerot , mourzy , meurzère .
