Rome requests the alliance of the Huns against the Visigoths, the Francs (428) and the Burgondes (430).
- the Byzantine Empire annexes the Pannonia Seconde, pertaining to the Western Empire. It advances on the line of the the Danube, easier to defend against the Huns, occupying the imperial city of Sirmium which protects an important ford on the Save.
