Municipal manager
A municipal manager (in English city to manage , or sometimes chief administrative officer ) is a Fonctionnaire employed or indicated by the Municipal council like the administrator of a municipality in a Gouvernement with municipal management, a mode running to the the United States and the Canada, where it is sometimes called managing director in French.
The responsibilities and the role of the municipal manager include:
- the supervision of the daily operations of all the services of the Municipality
- the supervision of the department heads
- preparation of the annual Budget municipal and the various options on which vote the council
- research on the points interesting the council and the formulation of recommendations
- the meeting with the citizens and local associations
These responsibilities can vary from one municipality to another. The municipal manager often has the capacity to engage or lay off an municipal employee or a director of service, but in certain cases this type of action must be beforehand approved by the council. The municipal manager must remain apolitical.
