Multia

Multia is a rural municipality mid-west of the Finland, in the area of Finland-Power station. Very isolated and having lost half of its inhabitants for 40 years, Multia has belonged to the many rural communes of the center and the east of Finland which die gently. The passage under the 2.000 inhabitants, official at the beginning of the year 2007, will certainly see being accentuated the pressures of the State which aims to strongly reduce the number of communes in the northern half of the area of central Finland and to encourage fusions of municipalities.

The exploitation of the forest remains the main resource. The commune resembles much its neighbor of north Pylkönmäki, very wooded and crossed by the Suomenselkä.

The village is crossed by main road 18, come from Jyväskylä (57 km) and on the way for Seinäjoki and Vaasa. The commune is bordered by the municipalities of Pylkönmäki in north, Saarijärvi in the North-East, Uurainen in the east, Petäjävesi in south-east, Keuruu in the south and Ähtäri in the North-West (Ostrobotnie of the South).
