Multatuli

Edouart Douwes Dekker March 2nd 1820 - † February 19th 1887), also known under its pen name Multatuli (“I suffered” in Latin much) is a writer Dutch known for its novel lampoon Max Havelaar .

Left in 1860, Max Havelaar had an echo resounding with the Netherlands, this novel being the first to at the time denounce an unjust commercial system which overpowers 30 million Javanese the Indies Dutchwomen, colony of the Netherlands. It is through Max Havelaar that Douwes Dekker tells the combat of a Robin of the Wood which fights against the oppression of the peasants of what will become later the Indonesia.
