Mulot
-
For the zoologists, the term mulot indicates specifically the Apodemus .
However the use often indicates under this name any small rodent of the countryside, even of other types of Micromammifère S countrymen, like:
-
the Campagnol S which, in addition to the true representatives of the kind Apodemus , are the first aimed by the improper use of the term mulot .
- the Rat of the harvests which resembles much a miniature of mulot .
In this category, the common use especially distinguishes “mulot” and “mouse”, the first being generally regarded as a kind of “mouse of the fields”. When to the autumn the mulots tend to penetrate in the dwellings, it is consequently not surprising to generally intend them to qualify “mouse”.
The Shrew S, resembling more or less a Mice seen by far, in spite of their pointed nose, are also sometimes qualified by error of mulots.
