Mujtahid

The mujtahid or moujtahid (مُجْتَهِد) is that which pronounces a personal interpretation (ijtihâd) on a point of right in Islam. The ijtihâd is the judgment resulting from the reflection of the mujtahid .
- Al-mujtahid Al-mutlaq: able to make approach the divergent texts and draw the synthesis, work out from it the legal principles without reference to a particular school (Madhhab). These competences are regarded as exceptional and extremely rare.
- Al-mujtahid Al-mutlaq Al-muntasib the same one but within the framework of a interpretative school (Madhhab).
- Al-mujtahid wire-madh' hab within the framework of a school interpretative, able to work out legal answers on new questions.
Notice
The correctors othographic regard the word mujtahid as a fault, as if one made a confusion with mujâhid .The two words result from the same root JaHaDa (جَهَدَ, to make an effort ) which in its derivatives gives JâHaDa (جاهَدَ, to fight ) then jihâd and mujâhid or in a more abstract direction ijtihâd and mujtahid .
