Mrs Sans-Gêne

Catherine Hubscher is more known under the nickname of Mrs Sans-Gêne , although this one was allotted to him only by the man of theater Victorien Sardou. The true Mrs Sans-Gêne was a named servicewoman Therese Figueur and the nickname given by Napoleon himself. Catherine Hubscher was marshal's wife Lefebvre, duchess of Dantzig born with Goldbach-Altenbach (Haut-Rhin) the February 2nd 1753.

Biography

Eminent character who marks the history of the valley of Saint-Amarin, and who exerts his trade of ironer with Oderen. Catherine, woman of temperament, initially cantinière, then washing machine, marries on March 1st 1783 a soldier of ripe age François Joseph Lefebvre sergeant with the French guards, vain and gracious man. From the rise in her husband, it integrates the imperial court without losing its popular vocabulary and its manners, to the great displeasure of much. Very honest towards the emperor, it was however not retained to criticize it and (he disarmed it could not defend himself to appreciate it for his frankness and however defended it against those which wanted to drive out it court) and it held even head with Talleyrand, expert in verbal tournaments. Living from now on in a great richness, she will never forget her modest origins: good and generous, it came to assistance of its close relations less favoured than it. It had fourteen children of which thirteen did not reach the adulthood! Died with Paris the December 29th 1835, it is buried with the Cimetière of the Father-Lachaise.

The character remained famous thanks to the part of the same name of Victorien Sardou (1893).
