Mrazig

The Mrazig are a wandering Peuple, formerly , living the town of Douz (Tunisia) and its neighborhoods.

With the number from approximately 50.000, in fact the descendants of the tribe of Banu Saleim leave the Arabic peninsula at the 7th century. They live then in Egypt then in Libya before arriving to Tunisia at the 13th century. They are known to have practiced the Transhumance in vast the the Sahara.

The Gouvernorat of Kébili celebrates the cultural heritage of Mrazig through the Festival of the Sahara which takes place each year with Douz.

Mrazig also live with the United Arab Emirates where their number with 10.000 individuals is evaluated. One also finds some with Oman, in particular in the governorship of Wahn, Sour and Sahm, where them number rises with 20.000 people working in the fishing, the Agriculture or occupant certain governmental stations.
