Biography

Childhood

Mr. Night Shyamalan is born with Mahé, in the Territoire of Pondichéry in India, of a line of Indians hindouist S. His father, Nelliattu C. Shyamalan, is a Médecin malayalee (originating in the State of the Kerala). His/her mother, Jayalakshmi Shyamalan, are obstetrician and gynecologist.

In the Years 1960, after medical studies with the JIPMER of Pondichéry and the birth of their first child, the parents emigrate towards the the United States. In 1970, the mother of Night turns over in India to spend the last five months of its pregnancy in the field of his/her maternal grandparents to Chennai (in the past Madras).

Shyamalan then decides to go to the Tisch School off the Arts, of the Université of New York, with Manhattan, which it leaves graduate in 1992. It is there that it shortens its first first name Manoj in Mr. and that it replaces its second first name Nelliyattu by Night ; it will sign its films under this name.
