The Mpumalanga is a province of South Africa since 1995 located in the part is Transvaal. Its name means “place where the sun rises”.

The historical province of the Transvaal itself is divided into 4 new provinces of which Transvaal of the East (Eastern Transvaal), which becomes the Mpumalanga the August 26th 1995 when it is renamed by the provincial authorities dominated by ANC.
Nelspruit is the provincial capital of Mpumalanga.
It also integrates on its territory several old Bantoustan S created under the mode of Apartheid.
In 1994, the first provincial elections in Eastern Transvaal gave a majority crushing to the ANC, confirmed in 1999 and 2004.
The residual opposition is represented by the democratic Alliance and the Front of Freedom.
At the time of the municipal elections of 2006, the ANC gained 80,6% of the voices of the residents of Mpumalanga and the majority in the 17 local municipalities and the 3 districts of the province.

One also finds there the Blyde River Canyon, the picturesque village of Pilgrim Rest as well as a multitude of water falls (Lisbon Falls, Mac Mac Falls) and typical landscapes of the high plateaus (God' S Window).
Following the example province of the Limpopo, the provincial authorities plan to Africanize or réorthographier more than 2500 names of cities (Nelspruit, Lydenburg…) and various places (rivers, streets, mountains…).
